Filtering and sorting
Choose a row view using the actual filter and sort controls.
Filter rows
- Open the toolbar's Filter and sort button.
- In Filter and sort rows, set Column:
1means A,2means B, and so on. - Choose a Filter condition and, when needed, enter a Filter value.
- Choose Apply.
Conditions are Text contains, Equals, Greater than, Greater than or equal, Less than, Less than or equal, and Is not empty. The last does not need a value. The dialog currently supports one filter and one sort, using the same chosen column.
For a small example, import a CSV with these rows (no header):
Ada,10
Bea,30
Cy,20
Set Column to 2, condition to Greater than, value to 15, and Apply. Bea and Cy should be visible.
Sort rows
In the same dialog, choose A → Z / smallest first or Z → A / largest first in Sort, then Apply. The filter is applied too. For sorting all example rows, choose Is not empty on column 2 and the desired sort.
With Greater than 15 and smallest first, Cy (20) precedes Bea (30). No sort disables ordering but still applies the selected filter. There is no separate filter-off checkbox; choose Clear all to remove both controls.
Return to the original view
Open Filter and sort, then choose Clear all. The original row view returns. These are temporary view settings, not a rewrite of the stored table; do not rely on them surviving a reload.
Imported data is filtered, sorted, and paged by the local database. Loaded rows retain their source identities: changing a displayed cell edits its original row even after sorting. Wait for row data to load before editing. The formula bar's cell address can therefore differ from the displayed row position.
Filter and sort can also project ordinary sheets. For large files, use imported dataset sheets. Sheet exports include the stored table, not just the filtered view.
